With less than a month to design and build a flyable Hughes H-1 Racer, Joe Bok and his Aero Telemetry team began making 3D CAD models of the Hughes H-1, and then quickly cut out sections of EPS foam that would be glued together and arranged in specific order on a carbon-reinforced box spar. This would then be hand shaped into the main fuselage section. Bok's team consisted of several talented sculptors and visual effects artists led by Jon Neill and Ian Stevenson, along with Johnny Fisk, Justine Rodriguez, and Sean Kane. Togther they carefully carved and shaped the model's unique features into the foam fuselage. The end result would be an amazing one-half scale replica of Howard Hughes historic racing airplane.
